I was looking forward to you hitting 100,000 and the untimely collapse of the modern world, a bit like Y2K but with more megabytes.

Now its a damp squib so I will have to wait for the aliens from Tabby's star to open the seventh seal.

Perhaps you don't speak the correct dialect of idiot, take your brain out of gear and drink copious amounts of Stella and then you will understand when you read the following.

Surely you will quote this proverb to me: ‘Physician heal yourself! Do here in your hometown what we have heard that you did in Haydock

340 odd views left !! After tea time or later tonight do you reckon??

Today have painted the additional keel ballast rod on project no whatever (have forgotten which one it is now). THEN found of course the thickened keel no longer fits in slot at the bottom of the box that holds the boat in place (sigh) so have re-done this to suit.

Ants are conspicuous by their absence in the affected boxes so another little job sorted.

Although the thread may be a bit of an institution I did intend it as a place that others could enlighten us as to their week-to-week boating adventures and so on. It has developed into a bit of a blog since then, and I am sorry that some posts are gobbledygook and in code due to the secret nature of my projects, but I have explained all this before. Ultimately you will see them, either hopefully in the mag or blazoned across this post as I give up trying to get it to work (hasn't happened yet!!)

Other than finishing project No1, I am without a new build just now…pondering….several things I COULD make….something will come along in time.

Congrats are nearly in order, Ashley

It'll be a shame, if ihe count simply starts all over again?

Why not ask Colin to make the columns a bit wider?

Problem solved and life carries on as normal

Just added another view to the count.

Progressing on the parts for my next build, this time I am trying to get a kit of parts ready before any gluing. It should then fly together (hopefully).

As an aside to my earlier post, it is also quite likely that the software running the count and presenting the display will recognise an out-of-range number and treat that as an error condition – which is what it ought to do. What it will do then I have no idea – someone needs to talk to the Webmaster to find out….

What an anti climax. But there again the boys from the black stuff had already reached 106,000 views, so really I am only just catching up.

Perhaps at 1,000,000 we might see something different….

Spent yesterday and an hour or so today fitting deans male connectors to all the ESC`s that were hiding in boats that were equipped with Tamiya connectors. I used a whole 15 of them which wasn't too bad…. It will at last mean an end to fiddling about with converter leads and of course not having these available when needed. Deans are more reliable (but not foolproof) and handle much more current before starting to melt.

Berengar and I are off to the Watercress line on Sunday for their "war-on-the-line" event, where everyone dresses in 1940`s gear. Berengar has a Khaki battledress, and I have an LDV armband to go with my casual jacket and trilby hat (plus a plastic tin helmet and Khaki army bag). I thought that was a good 1940`s fancy dress get-out, the arm band. So cheap and easy. SO no boating, just live-steam!!!

I think I was the only boater at Bushey Park today. A gentleman with a submarine attempted a sortie, but the speed controller let him down.

A shame as my boys were looking forward to seeing that under the water!

Had the Wavemaster out, and my Academy Viking cruiser.

Solved the mystery of the wrinkly transom on the Wavemaster:

                                          20170611_121117

Poor picture, but you can see where it has absorbed water and cracked.

Anyway, turns out that is a sheet of veneer that was only lightly glued over the back.

I did wonder when I was sealing and painting it last year, as it didn't match the colour of the rest of the ply it's built from. It yielded with very little scraping/peeling and after a light sanding the transom now looks like this:

                                          20170611_150440
Bit "functional", but now I can varnish it, and leave it like that for a bit to see if we get any more water ingress or staining. Then if it's OK I'll paint it blue again,
                                          Noel.

                                            I was that "gentleman" !

Just checked the orange submarine and am now kicking myself for not persevering at the pondside.

After switching on and connecting the battery, there was power for the lights, the steering servo worked but there was no output from the speed controller – I assumed a water damage as the sub is not 100% watertight.

Checked it out this morning and after a little investigation and hearing the ESC beeping it turns out that the transmitter "reverse" had been engaged (last outing was with two boats on the same transmitter).

Do not worry the sub will be out again, possibly not for a while as I will miss a few Sundays then the weed will arrive.

Noel, I suggest a thinned coat of varnish first to help it to soak into the ply and assist the future waterproofing.

As of late last night it had 2 coats of sanding sealer, and one light coat of varnish. Colour match with the main deck is quite good, certainly looks respectable enough until I'm happy to paint again.

On Sunday at Bushey I was aware of more than one or two duck feeders/passers by who seemed genuinely disappointed at it being a bit quiet on the boat front.

Noel. Sanding sealer is good, also penetrates very well. HOWEVER it is cellulose based so need to be careful about what you paint it over….
