Blooming cold at the pond, and thin ice!! Took the big LCT4 and had a smashing time doing some light ice-breaking. Handily I had a 12V batt fitted for max oomph form the 3×385`s but one under way it was spiffing.
On me own for a while until I could pester a DAD who came down with a small boy and small RTR slow speedboat (ho ho my LCT was faster) but the small boy was happy.
Main event was of course Trevor and the first test of his..now what was it?? of couirse…project no1. By this time Ray had joined us so we could umm and arr as to the fine adjustments needed.
For a first go, out the box as they say , I was impressed. Trevor was well impressed I think as he had low expectations (and that is how I go about these things, have low expectations and you will not be disappointed…) and Ray could not believe his eyes.
As is usual for these things, the more adjustments that were made to the xxxxxxx and also fitting different batteries and taping xxxxx to the xxxxx of the boat, the worse the preformace got, but this is not to say things were not going well, as valuable pointers were learnt, and water entry was an issue mainly due to the experimental nature of todays outing and hatches and so on that were not sealed as they will be once all the mucking about has finished. Proceedings were bought to a sudden stop when an important part fell off, although it may have been that something else had stopped working by then anyway ! Eventually you will see what I mean , especially in the propulsion department, upon which there was a lot of Plasticene piled on top of, or under in some cases…..
I would put some pictures up but the camera battery went flat. What a shame.
All to play for. I will be going through all this later on this year with my Proj no1 and if its first run is as successful as Trevors I will be dead chuffed.
