That's why nobody was blown away!

      Sorry. blush

You're certainly going to have an interesting time when you do get back to the water. All these different craft to try out.

Am planing a visit to view the pond this week (not to sail) after a worrying call from John last night saying that the water level is down about 4 inches and it’s a big stagnant mess as there’s no water flowing down the streams to fill it?

Whether he’s just being over dramatic (which has been known!) but I think it’s worth checking, we don’t want to turn up and there’s not enough water. Maybe the parks people are going to clean it out? I think that’s a long shot but you never know.

Richard. There was nothing untoward a few days ago. Bit of silt by the bridge but water level was ok. Can’t believe that it has deteriorated in a few days?

Will ride by tomorrow, like a drive by shooting, only without the shooting….or boat really.

          when might you be going??

We’re going to have a walk this morning, providing I can find a place to park near one of the gates.

            maybe see you there?

Pond is suffering big time. Water level probably down 2-3 inches, but there is no0 water flow under the bridge (and subsequently out) so this is causing silt build up, and it stinks. Not pleasant and poss a bit of a health hazard.

Met Trevor and had a "picnic" on the bench next to the pond, with a couple of boats-in-a-bag on our cycles.

tested Swordfish out and pleasantly surprised by performance. Alright, its not fast, but ok to play with. Couple of mods to do, cosmetic really, and a slightly larger rudder to make to assist turning control in a breeze…as its very light.

At the end, tried Trevor's 1500Mahr 2s Lipo and there was a marked difference in performance and it became almost fast, perfectly acceptable to play with. Success.

Ooops. Forgot to say, popped to see Noels 8 foot aircraft carrier….wow, what a beast!! How heavy!!

May need a bow thruster Noel, as a thought, to help turns from the jetty…or rather, to point the vessel, from stationary, out to sea..? Will save having to do a three point turn in front of the jetty.

Ash, nice, looks very James Bond with a touch of Jeremy Clarkson! Looks like it needs MORE POWER! If in doubt and all that😂

Looks like John wasn’t over exaggerating about the pond, if it gets stagnant it will kill the fish.

                    Good morning,

Looks very James Bond-ish. Hope the silouette will be sporting a tuxedo. Perhaps also a lady companion sporting something…'sporty'.

I agree that an elevator or spoiler/lift dump may help to reduce the dreaded 'flying boat syndrome'.

I must say though that the shape causes me to reflect on an old UK TV series based on routines in a department store, "Are you being served?" The store motto was "Never mind the quality, feel the width". Not that I'm suggesting for a moment that there could be any quality issues with your inovative modelling efforts, but the width is there!

Away to glue or paint something,

                    George

Richard. Yes I think that some e-mails are needed. It also stinks which cannot be good for public health. Bubbles of “marsh gas” are popping up from the bottom (sorry about that, beans..)

Of course it could do with more power but I really wanted to use the brushed fan. At last knocking, Trevor’s 1500 mAhr 2s seemed to give it a decent enough performance. Whether this was because it was slightly lighter and fresh (8.3v) and it lifted the back a bit?

George. The dimensions are roughly as plan (but enlarged, about twice size) in fact it was slimmed by 3/4 of an inch and shortened by an inch and the rear flat is deeper to allow the battery to slide right to the rear..and what a good job too.

Its nothing special, just something odd I found, but a bit unusual.

Good to see something on the pond at last, shame to hear its silted though.

Had a good review of the carrier project, thank you Ashley. I really need to get on and order some ply and get the hull planked I think!

Ashley, First time I thought about "never mind the quality, feel the width" was when I looked at the early stages of my Fisher hull. I only just managed to convince myself to keep at it. Your ducted fan is a cool machine. I had a similar machine many years ago with a Cox 0.49 and a propellor. Had air rudders and was almost unsteerable.

Noel, wow what a brave man you are! We are all looking forward to further progress photos I'm sure.

Is a that an Phantom PH on deck?  Waiting for a Blackburn Buccaneer I suppose?

That is a Dinky F4K I bought from a school jumble sale in about 1985. It's waited 35 years to get itself on an appropriate flight deck!

I can't take credit for the hull as it stands, the gentleman who built it did all the frames and decks, island, and flight deck, then decided it was too heavily built so started again. Its not THAT heavy though, one man lift at the moment and don't think the weight will go up that much by the time the hull is finished.
He's supplied me with tracings of the side profile plans and the island and deck too so I have lots to work from.

The other thing is that my type 42, HMS Manchester is also at 1:96 scale and would be a fitting escort, albeit just a few years later, as its the stretched version.

More power for the Swordfish: I have a 64mm GWS brushed edf. The mount for the existing 55mm unit is just the round tube glued on a bit of balsa, designed so the balsa can easily be cut off and replaced by another bit of balsa with another (larger) tube, and fan…..hmmm….

I have made a few cosmetic mods as suggested by a pondside critic which should address these issues. Pictures were good, need a few more to encompass the mods, and later in the year I may try the 64mm unit when we all get back together.

                                    Hi Noel,

A super project , I would try and loose some of those many layers of ply, unless you have loads of ballast !!I

                                    How long is she ??

I can also now provide a 2 destroyer escort for the launch 😄

Yes i will have to rationalize the ply decks as it will help access and make it easier to place removable ballast.

Noel. You may have forgotten to say it was 8 foot long, but I didn’t earlier!

We could muster up quite an escort one way or another I am sure, and what a sight that would be!

It is puzzling as to why the builder put so many decks in, certainly several need removing for access.
