Confussed by the etching parts

Hi has any one made this kit ? I am confused what the etched parts are for, when looking at all the photos on the boxes etc its not shown. Is it just an option you can use if you want to.

Also has any when fitted motor & radio in this model, I think the steering would be the main problem.

I have not built that kit (nor any similar), but yes: with many plastic model kits, photo etched parts tend to be for replacing certain (by the nature of the material) clumsier and less detailed injection-moulded plastic parts.

Often these photo etched parts are after-market add-ons, frequently even produced by different companies.
