Well, as Dave Wooley posted earlier, the Russian Federation scale models were out of this world. The team had taken 5 days to travel across Europe by van to reach Haydock Park and their models won a number of awards.
Colin Vass came to Haydock for the first time with his HMS Warspite, which along wih the Russian models were the award winning stars of the show. Mind you, Richard Motkya's Russian warships and Paul Bannon's HMS Hermes with working deck lights and lifts, also attracted huge interest.
Commodore Baum had only intended to stay at the show until lunchtime on the Saturday, but stayed until very late in the afternoon, such was his interest, which included operating models on the outside pools.
Being a submariner, he was naturally very interested in the working model submarines and remarked that he hopes to be able to attend tthe 25th Model Boat Convention in 2014 in a non-official capacitiy when the subject will be Naval Vessels and Submersibles.
Feedback from traders was positive and the Vintage Model Co. had a rather nice r/c wooden Footy yacht built in the mirror dinghy style, for £40 that will be an interesting diversion for me.
Perhaps Dave Wooley, who together with Dave Abbott was photgraphing the models, might post one or two pictures here, but a full in-depth photographic report from them both will appear in MB as a 'Gallery' style, once to hand asap.
