I still recieve many monthly emails from several rc model suppliers both aircraft  and boats and one in particular caught my eye. the shop in question proudly boasts bargain prices for a spectrum DX6i 2.4ghz tx& rx combo for just over £120 now I know that if you go to a certain web shop based in cornwall and named after our nations most popular fish shop fish you can purchase a radio link version Identical functions and performance for £52 and if all you want is a simple 4 channel version then £25 and its yours what is happening to this world that the likes of spectrum and futaba can justify the prices they charge their quality isn’t any better these radio link items are identical to a certain futaba product literally look to be made in the same factory.

I do wonder at the comparative quality of the cheaper sets, some look quite “plasticy”. However, the cheap ones do seem to do a satisfactory job, and they are considerably cheaper than Spectrum etc.

It’s a difficult decision. On the one hand there is a brand of TV sold in supermarkets in the UK which are much cheaper than the average but which seem to suffer a lot of failures just after they come out of warranty. On the other, I bought a top class Sony set in July which recently developed a screen fault entailing a replacement LCD panel although this was done promptly under the 3 year warranty.

I am still using Futaba M series steerwheel sets dating back to the 1970s which are stll as good as new.

              Definitely a difficult decision!

Have you ever had them serviced or had them on a signal analiser recently?  they where good sets in there day but things have moved on, they always had a wide signal compared to some otheres like JR but never as bad as the old ACOMS

The outlet is not good old CMB although I do buy quite a bit from them the guy I refer to only sells via the internet and imports his stuff directly from the manufacturers most of his stock is model aircraft orientated google giant cod and you’ll find him. I can vouch for the quality of these tx’s several freinds have them at the flying field and are identical in looks feel and performance to the futaba 6ch computer sets one lad has had both open and even the ic chip numbers match apparently. the menu set up is definately identical

Another Gripe of mine is an apparent lack of marine orientated tx’s I would really love a set that has 2 channels on a stick for throttle and tiller and 4 on switches and or sliders

I have just brought a old JR 2+2 back to life with a 2.4 modual from China £16 with reciver and the set was a boat set that has two on sticks and two sliders plus atf so you can set it to compensate for prop kick , you bin all the bits that can go off tune and fit new, its now right up to date plus its a nice TX with nice sticks ..
