      cullamix stern 011117 001.jpgHi All

The end is in sight ! well at least the stern rubbing boards to allow barges to rub on the rear of the tug. the tapered sections expoxyed in place individually, I guess this would be replaced regularly on the fullsize so went with a rustic look not joinery standard, drilled no.57 size holes and cocktail sticks cut as pegs & stained Burmese teak, I think it looks ok. Ballast/bath time soon

      Regards Raycullamix stern 011117 002.jpg

        Hi All

That's all for this year ! moved onto re-organising the workshop and little 30"bluewater 051117 004.jpg Giralda Thames Sailing Barge

Cullamix made it down to the lake on 5th November, but still needs lbs of ballast installed and the radio fitted, launch date March 2018

          cullbw1.jpgHi All,

Just to prove she floats! and to complete the thread, Cullamix on the water on Saturday morning, must build a barge for her to tow now

              Ray,

As Bob says, a very nice model indeed — and she looks really great on the water!

                Thanks Bob & Mattias

I always wanted this tug, so happy with the end product, she is not easy to move around, 25lbs of old casting in the bilges, I need to source a trolley

                Regards Ray

What a lovely model Ray, very impressive.

Had to go and read the original articles in 1952 Model Maker magazine and noticed a GRP hull available back in 1959.

                    Thanks Tony,

Really an enjoyable build, there is a GRP hull available now for £75 but to miss all that building fun, not an option! doing various smaller projects now but the next big scratch build will be HMS Belfast @ 1/96th scale that will be even more fun building a hull from ply & balsa 6' 4" long

Anybody interested the complete Cullamix build in my Album "Rays Boats"

                    Regards Ray
