Thanks Tony, I also prefer the hard copy myself as I think most people will, but it is certainly a useful facility. I did try out one of the new “electronic” books in Waterstones book shop the other day but I have to say i thought the technology still has some way to go before it will supplement traditional books and magazines. They don’t require batteries either!

Could loyal subscribers get a decent discount from My Hobby Store when buying kits, plans etc?

20% off would be a very good reason for subscribers to buy from My Hobby Store.

          Paul,

That’s ceratinly an idea and MHS are very keen to attract and keep subscribers. I think they might have to be careful about treading on the toes of others in the trade though. I suppose a two tier pricing structure on plans and books might be feasible. The powers that be do look at the feedback on the Forum and i stick my twopennyworth in from time to time.

As I have mentioned in a previous post/thread??? I am a beginner in the model ship building business, (although a joiner by trade and spent most of my working life in the house building trade), and my area of interest is the wooden sailing ships of the Royal Navy. I have bought the magazine a few times but wouldn’t consider subscribing because the mag is probably 98% of little interest to me. What might swing it would be more articles and tricks/tips/hints etc from seasoned modellers about static wooden models which would benefit beginners and intermediate model builders. For instance, I do buy the issues when a wooden ship review is published or where I can see an article relating to this, but they are few and far between.

hi all, while i enjoy the free plans the mag has on offer, i would like to see plans for a model that is a bit more of a challange to build .they could be over a few months so the model builder would have to buy  the mags with the build article within . it could be put to the vote as to which model to build so target the most popular model .if it is done on this forum you target all model boat builders not just with the subscribers.ps i am going to take out  a subsciption after this post strike is over. regards sammyk
