Having just joined this site I was surprised to find that there is no spellcheck facility when a post is written.
I will confess to making mistakes when typing and need to check everything before posting.  Mistakes can easily get past my proof reading, I would not like to confuse or even mislead people with such errors.
Could a spellchecker be added to this site?

A spellchecker is already on the list of requested improvements but I don’t expect immediate action as priority is being given to systems development elsewhere on the MyHobbyStore site at the moment. In the meantime I’m afraid you will have to be careful or run your post through a wordprocessing package before putting it up.

              Mr Needham,
I assume that this is intended to be humour.  It would greatly assist me if in future you were to indentify such posts with a suitable prefix such as (JOKE) although I would be inclined to include a question mark in the prefix.

Humour on this site is generally recognised as such by persons WITH a sense of humour, I will post no more,   Mr Needham

But there again, the notebook has underlined the word “humour”  AND  “recognised” and when I ask it what the correct spellings are, it spells them in “Americese” , so you have to be a bit careful

David. Perhaps it is our P.C doing this, as I can see where Arne is coming from, there isn’t a drop-down or button to spell check  ??   Ashley

Hi Ashley, I agree that there is no drop-down or button, but it just automatically spell checks me anyway. May be it recognises that I am a needy case and require the help

Ashleyy , I found it ammusing , seems to me of late that a few New forum members are a bit picky or have nothing better to do than nitpick at some posts.

Far from it Mr Long Build.
I have too little free time.  If there is a clique who regard this public forum as a stage to display their “humour” then can I suggest that they restrict its use to themselves not people whom they have never met.  Even better, add a “Humour” section to this site for their sole use.
Humour, used as an interupted defence mechanism or not, is often very revealing as to a persons character.  Used on a total stranger, humour carries serious risk of offence or worse.  Fortunately this is rarely a problem for those with limited social interactions.

So after all that, why is it that the site spell checks for some people and not others? still curious.

All has been revealed to me.
I was discussing this thread with my wife over breakfast this morning and we were having a chuckle thinking theirs non so strange as folks, when she came up with the thought that we are using Firefox as a browser on the computer and she has loaded spell check onto it, so that everything everything that you type while on the internet gets spell checked. Pretty handy eh.
She is not sure if Microsoft outlook has that ability.

Microsoft Internet Explorer does not have an inbuilt spell checker at the moment but apparently you can get free plug ins so maybe that is the way to go.

well, i finally found why everything was blurd.

so, it’s back into the fray.
                                          now where should i start.
                                          oh yes, mr arnes.
i’d lighten up a little if you want to be a member of this mad house. calling us all social inadequates because we like to add a little humour in this otherwise glum world of ours, just won’t make ANY friends at all, at all.

Hi Rick. Luckily for you I married Alison, because I am hopeless with computers. Here she is.

Hi Rick. If you go to this site,
you can download the British English dictionary. Firefox should simply install this, but you may need to restart the browser to get it activated.

Another very helpful add-on is  the image zoomer. You simply right-click on any web image and you can control the zoom level of the image only, rather than the whole page, as you do when you use the Control-Scroll thing. Here is the URL for the Image Zoom.

Best of luck and if you have any problems loading them, just let David know and he can consult his specialist.

Joke (this is a prefix Ashley)

I would be proud to be included within the ranks of the clique whose humour so upsets ArneS.

And in the spirit of the merry band of jockulators I have added a humour button to my keyboard and shall press it as often as I press my spellchecker and I dont missspell anything?

So, and only if your wit permits, I would suggest that if you don’t like the humour you should stay out of the club. But perhaps this is a bit deep for someone who must get out of his depth on a damp pavement.

Thanks David – both programs installed and working.  Particularly impressed with the zoomer. Also the fact that the spell-checker, having queried “zoomer” has allowed me to add it to my dictionary.
