      Hello,

Last weekend I bought a Leopard 2845/3D and it seems a very strong, powerful motor for fast boats. Is there any kit you could recommend to build round this motor? The last time I built boats was +20 years ago (Graupner Cobra speedboat) so my experience is a little outdated smiley.

PS The kV is 4560… probably I will use LiPo, but I am not sure. It seems LiPos are quite sensitive.

Pierre. Using brushles motors and LiPo batteries and in what combination for a particular hull is something of a guessing game.

Your Kv is very high and I would expect you would have to gear this down to start with. Such high Kv motors one would imagine would really be used for surface piercing props only.

Does graupner reccomend any particular motor for the Azimuth? If they do, then you would want to look up the specification for this motor and then compare it to yours.

Generally people purchase a hull first and then look for a suitable motor.

LiPo batteries would be a good choice if you want to go very fast and fit the motor in a light hull. They do take a bit of looking after, and the boat must be scrupulously sealed against water entry.

see this site for hulls and racing type equipment,
