LOL actually I suspect it’s a small hand mate,

I have a couple of recomendations lined up Bob just waiting on a question on the specs to be answered.

Also dithering a little on do I suggest mega rpm or mega watts! it appears both don’t often appear in the same motor. My contacts in the specialist fast electric forum are uncharacteristicly quiet!! Prob because as you point out this has never been done before and so they don’t have a clue…………………

Asking questions at Harrogate aint a bad idea, take a note book and make notes mate  as I suspect for every person you ask there will be a different answer. However a common thread may well emerge at the end of the day.

        Four months later…….Hi Chaps!

Nothing has happened since the last sailing in May, and having missed the Harrogate and Birchwood shows due to various inhouse problems, where I could have considered the Brushless option!……..But next Saturday, is the clubs Autumnal regatta

For this special occasion, I`ve removed the ground breaking turbo flops and intend to have a few short bursts on me banjo………and take a few pix for the club photo comp next week
That`s if I can remember how to work this wretched newfangled battery charger!

        Fingers crossed………Bob

Seriously mate have a good sailing and  best of luck with the photos

            Hello there chaps!

No!…I`m not dead….Just been hibernating during the summer months and having a lay off from model boating for the time being

In face, Wifey has enjoyed the peace and quiet so much…..She`s BANNED me from making any more boats!

The answer to that…Is to buy a kit!….eh?

On the subject of my Slo Mo Shun……..I`ve heard from a very good source, Mr Big, himself…..That some new big normal motors have appeared on the scene…..That will do the biz!

Must phone him and report back

            BTW…….Have you noticed my “view count”………………Over 11000!…….WOW!

            Bye for now, chaps………Bob

Hello Bob my auld mucker  good to hear from you again. Also good to hear that you may have an answer to the Slo Mo power issues. My little Slo Mo is going to get her power train shortly before Xmas so I will be reporting back with videos early in the new year.

Also I,ve been busy with my plans for sale project, and the latest is to be a Chris craft barrel back. Haven’t we been there before eh?? this one is at the request of a friend for a set of 1/6th scale plans for the 1940’s 16′ special racer “Scamp” A very tidy specimen of the breed .

Are you sure I couldn’t tempt you with a set?  they should be ready about feb next year.

                Hello Phil

I`ve been rather worried about you, lately, I began to think you were poorly or something!
                Thankfully, you`re ok!

Got some of the facts on the new motors.

The expert at Bury club has passed on info regarding new normal motors. Made in Germany….Smaller than the MMB900 motors but five times the power!

                Too good to be true?

This is the website…   http://www.modellhaus.co.uk/ ……All the info is there, but I`ve sent an Email for their recco of the correct size of motor etc

It`s nice to be talkiong to you again, Phil…….I was really getting out of touch.

Going to the Warwick show this Saturday with the club in a charra!……….Which should be interesting

You`ll note that the wife is doing a bit of whingeing about making another model boat……So I thought about buying a kit and enjoy the comforts of simply putting something together?

Tell me more about your plans, when you get nearer the time hey?

                All the best my M8……..Bob

Just had a look at the Scamp…….and I`m sure there`s a similar one in the latest special edition of Modelboats Mag?

That would be about right Bob I had just finished this one when on the inside cover of last months mag amongst the proposed contents for this coming months was a very similar beast

So as you can see the Mag seems to be just one step ahead as usuall LOL

I wondered what you meant by normal motors Bob! your link led me to some brushless “inrunners”, ie: they look like brushed motors but with and extra lead, and I thought you might be refering to the fact  that like brushed motors the outer can does not revolve un like “outrunner” brushless where the outer case revolves making for a higher tourque/grm of motor but also making water cooling a difficult issue.

I think my informant was mis-informed somewhere along the line

In the meantime….How`s this for a big `un?….Saw it at the Warwick show yesterday!
Had a look at the motors and I think this one or one similar had two giant old fashioned type motors….About 4″ dia x 6″ long….they looked like salvaged items from a car junkyard?……….and they didn`t have any cooling as far as I could make out!

                                                Hello Neil

I did give the matter a lot of thought beforehand, and as a matter of fact, Great Eastern was on Death Row too, until the BBC turned up at the 11th hour!

Slo Mo was a lot of fun to build, but the motor problem solution was too expensive to sort out, so it spent two years gathering dust in the workshop and was always in the way!

                                                Thankfully, I don`t regret it`s departure.

Anyway, it would take you two years to scrap her….

                                                      Thank you, Winkie and Colin

There’s no chance of GE ever being scrapped!
Hopefully, after the film is broadcast, she’ll be world famous!….’ish……and be a desirable commodity?
I wonder now, what would be the best spot, as a final resting place?
A museum, with some connection would be ideal!

Sorry to mix up Slo Mo and GE threads
