No No NO.. The storage boxes have been cobbled together from 3mm MDF, hardboard and batons of pine (or whatever) using gorilla glue, which is economical for larger glueing applications. They are simple 3 sided boxes with a hinged lid and close inspection will reveal the crudity of the construction.
I have, however painted them withcoloursed emulsion paint, left over from Berengars bedroom, or white from something or other we were going to paint white. This of course makes all the difference.
The first project (if you have been reading "todays boating"
has just been painted…and what a difference.. it has been hanging around for a YEAR now, due to this and that…and I have painted it , ; it has given me the impetus to finish it off finally. Similarly, the stand, which has been made from 20mm Stirling board (look it up) has been painted a light blue-green colour (bathroom paint) and looks just sooooo much better… A weekends work has transformed the project ( I dont suppose it will work any better, but we will see).
I did box everything up as I was going to attend the Amberly museum "small steam" day, which usually has a boat section display..and last year was only one chappie on his own which was sad…and I thought that I could bolster this up by bringing a cars worth of diverse and crowd pulling boaty sort of stuff down, but in the event I had a GIG and was unable to attend (perhaps this year).
I have however put about 1000 or so more "portholes" on the Argus, after looking at the picture pasted on the back of the box..and realising I had been a bit sparse with the `holes.
Ashley (looking forward to being invited to the premier) (not sure how I will parade six boats down the red carpet, but I will have to work on that)
NB Isla.. this is humour only and I dont REALLY expect to parade boats down the red carpet.
