Hi all, I am looking to find some plans for the shirley ann that was featured over November 1988 through to January 89. Any info would be great please as this is going to be my first go at something I’ve wanted to do for years.

          Hi Jamie,

Plans for the trawler Shirley Ann are available from MyHobbyStore: **LINK**

There is also a vac formed hull advertised:

          **LINK**

          Hope this helps,

          Colin

thanks Colin , I have managed to source the vac formed hull and I understand they also sell the plans but they don't seem to be able to tell me what the plans consist of. I have a very faded ( not to scale) copy of the top and side view but Myhobbystore cant tell me if the plans they sell are what I have already or if they include the detailed explanations and pictures that came with the magazine . Trying to keep costs down after getting the hull and I did notice Neil a member on here did have the old magazine article but I cannot contact him.

              Jamie,

The plans will simply be drawings and will not include text or techniques described in the article.

                Jamie,

See my post on the back issues topic. I will have a look for the issues you want later on.

                  Jamie,

I have found the issues at the back of my wardrobe! The Shirley Ann feature ran from November 1988 to January 1989 so there are quite a few pages, some of which are supplementary drawings.

If you are serious about wanting to build this boat I can scan them over the next few days and email them to you but I want to hang on to the main plan so you will need to buy that from MyHobbyStore.

Please confirm if you want me to go ahead.

                  Colin

                    Jamie,

I have sent you scans of the Nov 1988, Dec 1988, and Jan 1989 issues – 24 pages in all. They are big files so I hope they come across OK.

Now you just need the plan.

                    Colin

Thankyou so much Collin that’s great and they have come through ok.I have managed to source a copied plan that seems to be the same size as the styrene hull so it’s game on. Can I give you something for your trouble or is there a charity you favour that I could donate too as it means a great deal to me. Many many thanks once again

                        Jamie,

Pleased to be able to help. I don't want anything myself but you could pop a small donation in the next RNLI collection box you see if you wish.

I have JPEG files of each individual page if you need any more detail on particular features of the model.

Let us know how the build goes.

                        Colin

Hi Colin, just a quick update to say I am still at it and donating into lots of RNLI pots,
I must admit o don’t think I will go for another styrene model when I’ve finished this one and concentrate on wooden models from now on.

                            Jamie,

Glad to hear you are making progress and are looking to tackle a wooden hull next time round. People are often put off by the idea of building hulls but they are usually quite straightforward and more satisfying.

                            Colin
