About to start an Italeri S100 conversion, looking at previous posts discussing these conversions and possible motor combinations. I was initially thinking of 3 x 385 running off 12 v and perhaps 35 to 40mm props. Now I am thinking maybe of the 385's on the outer props and a brushless on the centre?

As I understand it the S100 wasn't a planing boat. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Avoid 385 motors for this model. They are nothing like powerful enough, even on 12v. 380's would be the minimum unless you want a canal patrol boat. If you really want to use 35mm props then ditch the idea of brushed motors and go 100% brushless. A trio of 2822/17 1100kv motors on 2S LiPo's would be a good place to start from.
Have you chickened out of building the H31? wink

No . I am still tempted to start the H31 next but just thinking ahead on the S100.
