No, the gearbox assemblies are directly mounted to a wooden bulkhead which is bonded to the hull of the boat. the brass props are 45mm diameter, please dont forget to buy a L/H & R/H rotation props, dont buy 2 identical ones, that way the boat dont “torque steer” when under power, saves you having to keep putting rudder input when only sailing a straight line.
the motors once running sound nice and actually give the boat some character to be honest, you wont have to be mean on battery size either, I run a 12v 10ah pack weighing almost 2kg’s and the boat still sits high in the water. Im running out of space in the upper hul lift off section, but need to mount another servo in there, to operate the swivel board [coloured blue] which rotates through 90 deg’s when the boat is on a shout, it can been seen on some good shots of the current dusseldorf boats as the older versions just used a blug flag on a pole, may work just as well, but I though the swivelling one would look better, still got some working out to do with the linkeage, so have a test rig for this as yet, then will transfer to the boat once all bugs sorted and it dont lock out or fail too soon !
