The RMS Teutonic was the ship making the change from sail to steam for the White Star line. Both she and her sister the Majestic were predesessors of the Olympic class (Olympic Titanic and Brittanic).

Came across this well written (and illustrated) document from the Engineer. It is a 34 page pdf document.

Hope you find it to be an interesting read, Tony

It made for very interesting reading and I especially liked the engineering style drawings on the engine room and plant.

I also thought the etchings were beyond belief!

The were so precise…..Especially the steam engines…..Almost like photographs

It is truly a lost art!

The etching which I would like to ask a question about, is the one which illustrates the starboard thrust block On a full sized ship, is this block to take up the thrust on the prop, the same as we use a washer at the propeller end? Just curious.

It was the Thrust Block etching that I found most interesting. I've never seen a thrust block that long, so much bigger than a modern blocks. Only quickly glanced at the article, I'll have to get a new pair of glasses before attempting to read it.

Yes Tony that's exactly what it's for, to transmit the thrust of the prop' to the hull.
