Thanks,
i always felt that east coasters, Braemar, Kenya and Rhodesia Castles wre just as good looking as the large ones, main difference was size, as they were about 18,000 tos, whilst the mailships were betwee 27,000 and 38,000. I sailed in Richmond, Transvaal, Windsor, Pretoria, Edinburgh, Pendennis and Good Hope Castles over the years, also Reina del Mar. 103 hours to build Edinburgh Castle was indeed a long time for me, but most model shipbuilders seem to think it was very fast, as most seem to take months or even years to build anything like that
. The 103 hours was spread over about a month from start to finish, including the display case and carying case. When it sold at Charles Miller Ltd, afurther 15% bueyers commission was added to the £2,400 hammer price, so they actually had to pay £2,760, and delivery charges on top of that!
