Hi Guys, i am building the Amati Riva Aquarama and i am finding it difficult to find a suitable adhesive for glazing the windscreen. I have tried various glues but have not found anything that sticks the acetate with a good clean bond to the metal frame. Odourless superglue works not too bad but keeping it off the acetate is a nightmare. It seams to be attracted to just about anywhere other than the joint, despite suitable masking/covering up etc, etc. I have now had to cut a template to produce new acetate screens as i have still not managed to get an acceptable finished screen. I have been building model boats for over 60 years and this is probably the only time i have not been able to find a solution to a task. Any help would be gratefully received! Regards Keith Lewis.

Canopy glue is the go to solution for this. If you do get some on the acetate it is water cleanup when wet and usually possible to remove it using a sharp plastic edge that won't scratch the acetate when dry.

It was developed tor gluing transparent canopies onto model aircraft which is inevitably a tricky job!

There are various manutacturers, Just google it.

Absolutely canopy glue. It can take a little while to set and so the windscreen will probably need to be securely taped in place while it does. I use it all the time for my model aircraft and because the one I use "searches" into the joint a bit like cyano I often use it in other joints where I don't want to see a glue line such as sealing the joints between tailplanes and the fuselages after assembly. Click here to see the type I have and I suppose it is much the same as Dave's Deluxe product.

              Useful stuff.

                Hi All,

My choice of canopy glue is Formula 560 by Pacer, proclaims on the bottle to be "The world's best" !! So it must be true ?? I have found it pretty good and dries clear 😃,

Used on my H31 windows same stuff Tim uses.h31 cockpit.jpg

                Regards Ray

                  Dear All

For other readers who might be looking for help the best advice that I can offer is Don't be tempted to use super glue. Being a member of the 'I know better school' lead me to bitter experience of these adhesives clouding acetate and ruining a very complex cockpit.

                  sad

                  Paul
