If you are considering a “repaint” during the rebuild, be careful of what paint removers you use, as ordinary paint remover is only any good on wood parts, Dont try and use it on plastic or glass fibre. for this, use either “fairy power spray” [domestic oven cleaner – but ONLY use the fairy one!] or use a general “marine” paint remover like langlow’s “safer stripper” as this is made for full size boats and they have no problems using it on abs, plastics or glass fibre panels, without any softening of the part.
Also remember that once you start stripping paint off a component, you have to go till you reach “base level”, dotn stop half way and try and paint over, the underlaying paint will of taken some of the stripper in and be too soft to accept fresh paint.
ive been there and learn’t the hard way !
