Well, as requested, I have put up an album with a selection of my photos of QM2 which you can see here.

The ship is simply magnificent. The interiors are stunning and she really does evoke the atmosphere of the golden age of Atlantic travel with her modern take on the original Art Deco theme.

During our crossing we had a bit of everything weatherwise. The first two days were officially rough and the ship pitched quite a bit despite her size although the stabilisers controlled the roll very well. Our cabin was well forward so it was like being on the end of a 1,000 foot see saw – one moment you felt very heavy, the next you were weightless.

Then we had two days of cloud in moderate seas but strong winds which it was almost impossible to escape while on deck. Next day was sunny and balmy and we saw pilot whales alongside. As we approached Newfoundland the weather became typically misty and we arrived at New York at 6am in thick fog which did clear before we disembarked.

I hope you find the photos interesting. Definitlely one of those things to do before you die!

Colin, nice snaps. The ship is monumental indeed.

Glad you had a nice time, and taking pictures of model boats as well…tsk tsk.. busmans holiday or what.

            Enjoyed them all

I suppose the engine room was off limits?

Yes Bob, and so was the bridge although there was a viewing area just behind the bridge where they didn’t encourage photography – it was still interesting though.

They did offer a tour of the kitchens although we didn’t take it up!
