Is there any way that you could pack and weigh them….. then someone could arrange a courier to come and pick them up from your home.

I have found the courier Hermes to be efficient, quick and cheap.

Hi Larry,

Paul is quite right about Hermes, last week Mrs H sold some goods on ebay, which I took to the Post Office for Parcelforce. I rung home with the price quoted, to which she was non too pleased and told me to return home. Hermes were contacted and the next day a van came to collect the goods, signed for upon delivery and 1/3 the cost.

iPostParcels are also good, because they don't ask for a label to be printed at home. I use them for all my parcels now.
