Paddle boats?

Hi Guys,

I have for some time been thinking about building a Mississipi style paddle steamer! Might as well go in at the deep end so to speak! Has anyone got any idea who would do kits for this sort of craft? Something 4-5 foot long would look about right paddleing around the lake!

I do not know of any kits readily available of that size. But Artesania Latina do offer such a kit. It is:
1/80 King of the Mississippi Paddle Steamer (22805)
Length: 25-30/32” (660mm) Height: 11-15/32” (192mm) Beam: 5-3/32” (130mm) Scale: 1:80 3/20”=1 Ft – price is approx. £165 in the UK from any of the usual outlets.
I have no doubt that there would be available in the USA, GRP hulls/fittings for these vessels. The problem would be getting it to the UK intact and at a reasonable price. Loyalhanna Dockyard (a search on Google will readily find them) is a good American model shop/supplier who may be able to assist or at least put you in the right direction.

Thanks guys, I have had a look at the LD stuff and logged in with Paddleducks so will se what  I can come up with there.

I am into 1/8th scale off road racing at the moment, which is wild and wolley FUN, so I am looking for a boat that is a complete contrast. I have had the ‘Toy’ boats in the past and thay have not done much for me, but something around, 4′ long with lighting, music playing and smoke comming out of the funnels would be about right!

I want to be up there with the 5′ Beam tralwer, and the 6′ Sealink ferry which poddle around my local boating lake. Or am I just being to keen?
