Our Club is struggling to set up a Website -due to lack of expertise – but there have been past enquiries from boaters trying to find us, or are looking for a Club in the Wigan, Bolton, Chorley area. So, we are still going strong, with a good pond at Horwich, about 30 members, (see our entry in Feb 2013 Magazine), and sailing days Wednesdays and Sundays. Respond to this post for more details- you will be welcome.( Or come to the pond @BL6 7RR – Squirrel Lane, leave your car at the barrier on the left, pass the locked barrier, and walk down to the right, on a sailing day)

Hello just wondering if anyone uses AM 40Mhz gear. I have some faulty and would like someone to swap out to test variouse bits to find which are faulty. Mine is a Futaba attack 2ER Tx.

              Kind Regards

              Wilf

hello,Wilf. I'm the Secretary of the above Club, and wonder what you would like me to do to help? I have about 20 members on e-mail, who I could circulate, a very few might have 40Mhz sets, but most of our Members now use 2.4Ghz. Are you close to our Club at Horwich? By "swap out", do you mean borrow a 40 meg set to see what still works. Just for info. we have a Member subsidy which helps to purchase (under some conditions) 2.4Ghz gear – saves a lot of hastle at the pond-side!

Thanks Barry. I have bought this kit with a model boat that is faulty(unfortunately it is a speed boat but I intend putting an ESC on it so I can drive it slower LOL).
I have checked the servos and motors and they are OK.
I bought some crystals but I cannot get a response from the receiver.
I have put the transmitter onto an oscilloscope and have a signal so I think the Tx is OK.
BUT I am not sure if Futaba Tx needs Futaba crystals. I heard that the Tx times the crystal frequency by 3 for some reason so if that is the case the crystal will be special for the Futaba.

The Rx is Acoms. What I would like is to test my Tx using known good crystals and the Rx using another good Tx and crystals. It would prob take about 15 to 30 mins max. If someone has a Futaba AM Tx then it will be done in a few mins.

I have bought a 2.4Ghz Tx but have been told that normal aircraft receivers loose the signal over water. So I thought I would get this setup going first.

                  Hope you can help.
                  Regards

                  Wilf

Kev, yes I'm still Secretary, and I'm sure you will be welcome as a Member. If you know where the pond is through Horwich, then call at the pond on any sunny or dry Sunday, or Wednesday, and make yourself known. Members usually congregate from 11am onwards. We now DO have a Website, which has more info. about the club, try www. northwestscalemodelboatclub.com — and you could also turn up at the next Club meeting on Monday 18th May, from 8pm onwards, at Aspull British Legion Club. Once again, make yourself known to people -though don't ask for me – I,m away that night.
