Whilst on holiday and browsing the Canal boat magazine in the cottage mag rack, i saw an advert for “AXIOM” propellers.
This may, or may not be news to readers, but as a prop, its certainly different, and great things are claimed for it.
Check out “axiom propellers.com or something similar, from memory.
The blades are rectangular, have a cutout near the boss, but the main feature is the constant blade shape, none of yer spirally variable camber here….the patent says “approx 60 degrees at either edge going to 45 degrees for the centre section…. it is claimed to eliminate prop lift, decrease cavitation and dramatically increase reverse thrust. It has square tips?? Cor ! excuse me while I sit down.
Actually, I needed a sit-down after trying to decipher the patent application
Needless to say its expensive….wonder what a model one would perform like??
I have a book on this post….20 views max and no replies!!

nb most views on forums centered on the cost and susceptibility to damage..it seems that there is loads of junk in canals, and shallow with it, and bashing your prop against shopping trollies/bikes/bags is a regular occurrence and with a bog standard prop being in the low hundreds and an AXIOM being £650 plus…….
