new member needs advice

I was involved in the Walker Wingsail project ( lost money) & would like to make a model of this, (probably beyond my capabilities) or would coperate with anyone who would be interested in building one

I have put a photo of one of the wingsail boats in the gallery. there were 2 or 3 different types.

I would very much like to hear from anyone who has tried this sail arrangement

Having seen your photo I would suggest that you talk to Paul thomason about building a wingsail, I recall discussing this sail system with him when he was working on the Isle of Man he was very keen to use the system on a large scale model.

However I do know that he is very ill at the moment but in the meantime have a look at his gallery and forum listings, he also had a piece printed in model boat mag in november showing his trent lifeboat.

I am afraid that Sam thinks a lot more of my abilities than I do, but for myself I would be keen to look at any plans/drawings that you might have as this would make an interesting project for me to play with whilst keeping relaxed.

Un fortunately I disposed of all the deatails many years ago when the firm went bust, however I do have some photos which I could send you & I  also have  a videio  which I will copy to disc & could send you this.

the video gives alo tof info as the boat sails the atlantic.

Dont let Paul sell himself short, when we were talking about this sail system he even went to the extent of talking to a member of our local areo club to get some ideas about aerodynamics on a vertical wing and how to balance the forces. If any one could build a working model then it is him.

have sent him some photos of the boats & i have a dvd full of info about the constructin & sailing. A great shame that the inventor, a brillient engineer but not too good at the business side was not able to continue
