I'm looking for a stand for my sons model yacht. It keeps falling off his current one. Does anyone know a supplier or someone who could make one for me please.

          Hi Janis,

It maybe worth looking for something like a folding magazine rack? which could be converted with some webbing to support the hull, the photo is of one of my DIY folding stands for my small sailing barge which has a fin keel, and works really well.

Thank you. Interesting suggestion. Not sure if the model I have is too small though but I've seen some model boats on cradles. I'll investigate.

JanIs , May l suggest you look on the respective web sites for Model Yachting Association and also for Model Power Boat Association and explain your dilema to them . Am sure enquiring through their contacts options and club directories will yield positive results for you . GOOD LUCK. Trevor .

                Hello Janis

Could you post a picture of the existing stand so perhaps we might see what the problem is?

Is the stand being used out in the wind and calling it a yacht does this mean it is a sailing yacht?

There may be a simple fix.

Janis , Thank you for the picture , most useful . Would now suggest you go to Ripmax – Aircraft Accessories – Model Stands/Cradles. There you will find 6 examples , 1 of which I hope you will find suitable . They also have a list of dealers , one of which I hope is in your area . Hope this helps . Trevor.

Thank you for your help Trevor. I've been in touch with the local model shop (tracked through the Ripmax web site which you referred me to) and they have various companies who they think will be able to solve my predicament. I need to do some measurements and get back to them.

I would love a trip to South Yorkshire but it isn't on the horizon at the moment, more the pity.

                          Thanks again. Janis

I have actually solved my problem by using the wooden remote control holder, which was shaped like a cradle. As I have discovered the boat cost under £50 and a new cradle would have cost me nearly the same as the boat!

Thanks again for your help everyone.

This is my boat stand for my yachts when at the lake side. It swivels to keep the yacht safe in the wind.

                                  Hi Brian,

The most original device I've seen this year 😀 you better patent it quick. Engineering solution.

                                  Regards Ray
