Model RNLI Lifeboat – Tyne Class

I worked on this boat when it was being built at Fairey Marine in Cowes Isle of Wight. I fitted the engines & went out on trials. Lovely model. Shame I didn't see it before!

Hi everyone, I am a newbie to this hobby and I have just picked up a tyne class lifeboat that need finishing. The drawings are in 5/8ths inch to one foot and I was wondering what scale this equates to in modelling terms. I also would like to know where to get parts from if anyone can help.

Hi David,

Your Lifeboat is 1 – 21 scale by my reckoning ? Neil and co. know about parts and figures at that scale I would guess as they are the Lifeboat experts.

Yes the model is sold as a 1;20th scale as its the nearest that modellers can pick up parts for.

Don't know what you are missing to finish your model, and its only a guess, but Macs Mouldings and masrks model boats and model boat bits do fittings for model boats at different scales, and had it been at 1;12 scale I could have helped with quite a lot, but sadly that is my prefered scale for lifeboats.

Colin, could you please transfer this part of the old thread on to the scratch building section under Tyne 1;20th scale lifeboat,dated from 10/05/2023 and it will be easier to help David.
