I understand that the show stopped because it was organised by a small group of volunteers and after doing it for a number of years, they wanted to call it a day and no one else seemed keen to do it.

Also in 2012, Weymouth was the venue for Olympic sailing and the town concentrated on that event for that year, so it was a natural time to stop the Weymouth show in 2011.

There is of course no reason why someone else cannot approach the local council and offer to set-up something, but primarily of course it is all free, so no recompense to speak of for the volunteer organisers.

                Hello

The possibility of a show in 2014 was investigated by a small group of volunteers however it was not financially viable for this particular group of volunteers. So interest in organising an event on the scale of previous years has ebbed away for now.

However at Weymouth and Portland MBC we are doing things on a much smaller scale. There is planned to be 2 days of boats on the lake in town on 12th & 13th of July, club open day on Saturday where model boat enthusiasts are welcome to come and join in and southwest area fast electric racing on the Sunday. As ever if anyone plans to travel get in touch before hand, we have been flooded out in July before. **LINK**
