mercury hydroplane 1980’s unused balsa model kit for sale

hi ppl im new to this site .. and hope some body can point me in the right direction because i wish to sell this item ..

 

i have a genuine unused mercury hydroplane  balsa model kit .. in it’s original box .. the contents even has the original tube of cement glue .. and drawings .

designed by J.M.Drinkwater..

The model is copyright by mercury models ltd..

and says on the drawings Henry J Nicholls ltd 308 holloway road london N7 ..

this model supplier still exsists and is now in the name of Henry J Nicholls and sons ltd ..

 

the model type make is only shown as MERCURY HYDROPLANE ..

for motor’s upto 1.5 cc

if anybody knows of a link so i can sell this item please let me know of maybe if anybody here is interested in making me a offer ..

you may be better off sticking it in e-bay with a reserve price, it should sell there ok.

hi i am a 63 year old aero modeller have you still got this kit for sale. or a copy of plan and parts. witch i will gladley buy off you i would like to build the hydroplane for my grand son if not do you know wear i could get them. sorry about spelling should have paid more attension at school in the sixties all the best eny way

Quite an old thread this, but looking at the pictures there is not much difference to this and the airboat design published in model boats a while back and would be very easy to build by just looking at the pictures.

Not sure who you are but what would you want for it?? Im not a collector but as it was the first model I ever built when my abilities were somewhat undeveloped and my cash resource was much less, I would love to built it again.

Let me know what its worth to let it go and if that fits I'll buy it.

If I had money to waste I would do a James May on it !! buy it and build it but as this goes back to 2009 I doubt it is still around, try sending a private message to Colin to see if he still has it, else I would imagine it would not be that hard to recreate from the pictures on the thread.

I have absolutely no interest in the boat, as you say, plans not needed to replicate.

Hello John,

I have an old drawing which you are welcome to a copy of if you fancy making your own kit of parts, it is all on the drawing, somebody who has never had a diesel engine on an airboat has hand sketched the pylon facing forward

Great if you can catch it without nipping your fingers !! It's 18 1/2" X 7" beam and would go well with a 400 size brushed motor or brushless for more speed which I had thought i'd do one day.
