Years ago in my hot rodding days you used to be able to buy masking tape that after it was applied, a central section could be removed leaving a gap that paint could be applied making a line.

I have done a search but have not come up with any suppliers. It was a much easier scheme than two bits of masking tape.

          Greg,

I've some of this, at 1mm wide in an initial strip about 5mm width. I got it from:-

          http://www.miskinmodels.co.uk

It's great for water lines at small scale, and for hull markings and deck stripes etc.

Trimline is good stuff. Some people are put off because it is a tape rather than paint but in fact it is so thin that it looks just like a paint line, particularly if the hull has been subsequently varnished (although this is not strictly necessary).

OK, you can detect it if you run your fingernail over it but do you really want people doing that to your precious model?!

Be careful not to stretch it when applying. Just let it lie naturally and press down with a cloth or something similar.
