Many thanks to everyone for your help and advice over the build of the snowberry .Why couldn't the manufacturers of the 2.4GHz units make them like the old 27 FM units would be allot easier .

Probably because the 2.4Ghz unit works quite differently to a radio using a dedicated frequency – it's closer to a small computer network. And you know what computers are like…

Andy. A Planet 2.4 set does for me. Binding couldnt be simpler, power up reciever, push side switch..turn on transmitter. Other than that is is berift of almost any other features, and thats about as easy as it gets.

The trouble is the "better" sets have all the bells and whistles and this makes them more complicated, which is of course also what you would expect.

Not only do those "better" sets have many a bell and plenty of whistles, but also the vast majoritty of such noisemakers were put in with the r/c flying crowd firmly in mind, which I suppose is why the manuals for these sets seems to be nothing but page after page explaining how to pre-programme aileron settings, helicopter tail rotor action and the like … all of which tends to come strike a poor, simple "forward/reverse, port and starboard" boater like yours truly as so much gobbledeegook …

The planet set for my money is the perfect 27M replacement…. a bobby basic set, nowt to program, easy Rx binding and 5 channels for additional gizmos if you like.

I went for RadioLink in a big way – hard to quarrel with a complete 2.4Gz set for £25… But, alas, Giant Cod/Shark is no more…

…though Hobby king now do a similar 4-channel 2.4Gz set for £17. And if you want 6 channels that's £18….

                    I have the cheaper Hobbyking 6 channel (HK-T6A V2).

It's OK but to reverse a channel(rudder or throttle) you require a computer running XP and cable.

I also have a Turnigy TGY-I6, a far better unit.

Programming for reversing channels done on the transmitter.

Supports up to 20 models(buy more receivers only) and you can name the models(limited length).

So you can have different setups for each model.

It also with the newer receiver supports voltage/temperature and rev. sensors.

These do not come with servos but these are cheap.

Both units are very easy to bind in.

The heavier kg thrust one rotate the opposite way to stand servo's.

                    e.g. HK-15269 4.5 KG

HK-15288A 9.45KG(use one to turn the outboard sprint unit with no problems).

The small Turnigy TGY-53317M 3KG is a good little unit.

I was give an old 6 channel 36M unit and the transmitter has reverse switches on it.

                    Nice and simple!!!!

Really? Do you mean the Chinese site here?:

                        **LINK**

But they don't have any prices or facilities for buying. I would expect that only a commercial bulk purchase could be undertaken by contacting them in this way…
