      Hello all,

looking at building the Glynn Guest Empress, but it requires a minimum prop shaft length of 14 inches. Havent found anywhere on line to purchase one at this length, can anyone help me out with a link ?

SHG Marine sell 14 inch shafts. The 14 inch refers to the tube length so you might need a 15 inch tube. The shaft extends about half an inch at each end.

Model Boat Bits and SHG will make any length shafts you require .

Cornwall Model Boats have some ranges of propshafts that go up to 450 to 500mm.

What diameter is the shaft.. ? That's quite a length if only 4mm (for instance)… ashley

Hi Ashley, the article doesnt specify but as its one of Glynns Im guessing 4mm, mind you its swinging a 40mm prop so not sure now lol

Ashley is right, there is a risk of the shaft whipping at 4mm but SHG, and no doubt some of the other suppliers will sell you a tube with a 5mm shaft which would probably be safer. You will then obviously need a prop with an 8mm thread.

5mm Colin means of course! Obviously a 5mm coupling would be required at the other end. Ashley
