In this case, the effect of following my suggestion makes no difference unless your problem was confined to a browser not storing  passwords & login.

Just a quick question.

 

What is the “time out” period before we have to log in again, I have noticed that if I am on the pm section and replying to a message if I am not quick then I have to log in again and the message is lost.

Can`t post pictures into the forum………….when I select……..”insert image”…….the system hangs up with the hour glass symbol

Sounds like a repetition of your previous problem Bob. Have you tried shutting down your PC and rebooting?

I have had the same problem when uploading the barrel back photos, I suspect that the site cant cope with more than 2 large jpg images during any single transfer so I stick to uploading one image at a time.

 

Works for me.

Paul,

 

The Tech Guy advises me that it’s not a good idea to upload large image files as these can run into problems – not just confined to this site. They get cut right down once they are on the site anyway so there is no real point in doing this. It’s best to make a “desktop resolution” copy and upload that which only takes seconds. Image resizing programs are widely available and I have recommended two in the FAQ section on the left hand side of the home page. I have been uploading dozens of photos for the Article Database using this technique and the only time my upload failed was when I included some full size images in error!

 

If an upload fails, it seems that the connectiion is not always broken which “locks” things up when you do anything associated with the photos. I’ve found the only way to reset this is to close down the browser entirelyand reload or reboot the PC.
