Loft Find of Model Boats & Planes – Any Advice?

Hi All,

 

I’ve just been helping my Dad clear his loft of all the previous owners junk. Amongst the junk was several unmade model boat/plane kits that look like they’re from the 70’s. My Dad wanted to skip them but I thought it was a shame to just bin them (or am I just a magpie!). I was after any advice as to wether they are worth putting on ebay or not (the skips still here if not!) & any ideas on price?

I’ll just list the boats:

 

Keil Kraft Rapier

Correct # of parts as part list. Plans/Instructions included. All parts look as new.

 

Modav K.D. Perkasa

No parts list. Presume some parts missing. Can see 1 snapped part & 1 warped part. One for the pro?

 

Carta Augusto Berlin 1675

No parts list. Plans/Instructions included. All parts look in excellent condition.

 

Carta Augusto Baroldo

No parts list. Presume some parts missing. No Plans/Instructions. All parts look in excellent condition. Probably give this one away with the Berlin.

Thanks Colin, I think I’ll probably sell them as 2 job lots (1 of boats & 1 of planes) unless anybody points out anything of special interest. I’ll register on mayhem and see if there’s any interest there, thanks

As they are old, and collectable, I’m sure they will appeal to some members of both forums.

Not my type of model but there are many who like those models.

Just as a matter of interest, Jason.In the plane kits, there wouldn’t by any chance be one of a Mosquito fighter bomber in wood .

Whats all this then….building planes….I have got to go and wash my hands and scrub my eyeballs after seeing and typing the P word.

 

On a serious note I have a simple set of DH mosquito plans somewhere on disk so if you cant find a kit you could always scratch build.

nah, nah ,nah, Paul.

I never said I’d build one, I’d just like to look at one.

My dad flew them during WW2 as a navigator, and I just think they are beautiful aircraft to look at.

However if you do come accross the plans, I’d love a set….please.

might  build one in  minature one day……..something that I could make on a building board on my knee in an evening.

I’d be too scared of spending that much time on a working one only to end up picking matchsticks out of the ground.

I’d just like to say thanks for everyones advice and interest. You’ve answered my main question which was wether they worth selling. It just shows how much I know, I would have taken £10-£20 for the Keil Kraft Spectre plane yet someone sent me a link to an ebay one currently at £112!
There’s been quite a bit of interest in all the items so I think the best bet is to list them all individually on ebay. I’ll be taking plenty of photos and doing my best to describe whats there. I’ll probably be over critical if anything but I’m guessing because they’re wood models with the plans any missing or damaged parts can be easily reproduced. The proceeds will make a nice surprise for my Dads 60th birthday and I’ll be expecting a pint or three!

I’ll post some links when they’re listed on ebay (should be Saturday).
