Had we been 10 minutes earlier finishing our meal then this meeting would never have happened. We were sat having lunch in the Pumphouse pub on the Albert dock, Liverpool this afternoon when a gentleman and his wife walked in and sat at the next table to us. He nodded to me as he sat and I let on……..not knowing him, but seeming to recognise his face. I couldn't get it out of my mind, so asked him as we were leaving if we knew each otherI asked him if he built model boats to begin with, with a yes as a reply…………….. had we met at Ellesmere port boat rally…..had it been Blackpool………. Where we came from, was he a member of Model Boat Mayhem, all to no avail, until he said, "i'm a member of the Model Boats forum to which I asked his name………………."It's Tony Burton " says he …………. B****y h*** says I, you sent me a set of plans for the ST200 from Model Boats Mag some time ago to build an ambulance launch for Guernsey".Yes, I remember…your name's neil says tony. Tony and his partner had come from Lincolnshire for a visit to the docks, and we had come from Fleetwood, neither had met before, and we sat on adjacent tables in a pub on a dock side…………now THAT IS A SMALL WORLD. So the moral of the story is……if you think you know someone's face……ask them, don't be shy. It was very nice to meet you Tony and your partner. Take care and hope you soon get those elusive brushless motors. best wishes, Neil.

          Hi Neil,

funny thing happened yesterday – we are currently running a 10 day exhibition by invitation at the House of Manannan in Peel. We have 86 boats on display, arranged by boat types, tugs, yachts rescue etc.

Yesterday a chap comes in, and starts looking around, spots the yachts has a good look then asks if the owner of Cloie is about. He's sent over to me as she's my 36R and he asks about the USA/UK peaked cap and plaque. I say mine, and he says his son is current British vane champion and he was at Llandudno too. He was the individual champion for the combined event. Turns out he is a member of Gosport Model Boat Club. Now as we're talking, our televised slide show displays a tug, "Wyeforce", and it turns out that he owns it and two others.

We're sailing tomorrow on the Mooragh. He apparently comes over to the Island once a year and did not know we existed – small worlds aren't they.

          Kimmo.

            It certainly can be

After I got Married , we went to the Dominican Republic, made friends with another couple..

Some weeks later back in the UK we went to Blackpool and in one of the arcades bumped into this couple again, we were all quite shocked, They Lived in Manchester , us in Warrington.. You would have thought I could at least pick the winning lottery numbers !!!
