Now my pt boat is approaching the finish i am about to start on the e boat i brought at weymouth and would like to know what motors etc to install also what veiws on this 2.4 rc system as it would seem easier to use this on all my boats rather than lug about diffrent units .

I have not fully researched the item but i believe it may be similar to the schnellboot italeria conversion, a longish running thread by Buzzer, that should be investigated.

its not much use of course, as everybody has done their own thing !!!  It is apparent that all persons involved have had success as per their requirements. so you takes yer choice.

AND I would do it differently to the others. There is no right or wrong here. I will reiterate a point I made and that is a chap on our pond was doing something similar with I think a slightly smaller boat and was using brushless motors on ridiculously small 20mm props. Casting my “expert” eye over this setup I thought, and luckily didnt say, that the props were far too small. Can I have been more wrong, the thing was jet propelled.

If the boats are the same I fancy the SHG approach of shifting things a bit to give a better centre of gravity on the  distribution of weight thing, as this will give better pond manners when running fast (lets face it, the only way to run a schnelboot) .380 motors are fairly powerful and cheap, and can be replaced with speed 400s directly if required. 35mm props suit either assuming thats the size of the kit. A change to 30mm may even be a better match (brass)

Tip of the day..always keep your gob shut at the pondside until after the first run…

OOps. The 2.4gig set appears to be highly regarded (see previous thread and mag articles), but the receivers are fairly dear if you want to install them seperately on other models compared to 27 or 40Mhz ones. Ash

              Hi,

I have a partially completed Italeri model.

You really do need to keep the model as light as possible, this is more easily achieved if you just fit one prop shaft.  I have seen 2 other models with three motors fitted but these both have a poor performance on the water.
I have fitted a small brushless motor in mine with a kV of 1450, this drives a 25mm Prop Shop 3 blade prop. I also use a 1600mAh Lipo to keep the weight down.
It is fast on a 2S Lipo (7.2V) and stupidly fast on a 3S Lipo (11.1V). It turns really beautifully, heeling nicely into the turn.

I suppose it all depends on whether you want the boat to look good out of the water (ie 3x props) or go well, and be simpler and lighter IN the water?

The alternative may be to have 3 props, but only the centre one driven for power, and the outer shafts simply spun by a very small light motor?
