Hello to everyone, I have just joined today as I am back to modelling after many years away (got married!!), and for my 68th b'day my family have bought me a U S S Whitehall patrol craft and I would like to know if it is suitable to do this after being away for so long. I have lots of time and patience as I am retired so there is no rush. Also on reading on an american site the use of green putty which I have never heard of so what is our name for it.

Any help and advice will be more than welcome.

I may be wrong, but from what I've read about this putty stuff, I think it's similar to a product we call 'Miliput'.

Hopefully those with a bit more knowledge than I, will be along shortly.

Welcome to the world of model boating smiley

I suspect it may be referring to Squadron Green Putty which is a fast drying filler rather than Milliput whuch takes much longer to set.

For a moment I thought this thread was deja vu all over again – surely there can't be TWO people with identical stories?

Either you've changed your forum name or you have a lousy memory, but I found this: **LINK**

Oh dear and I thought it was medication playing tricks with my memory.

My sympathies if you really do suffer from a poor memory but you must see how this looks i.e. a slap in the face for those who replied to your original posting. Please go back and read those replies before you proceed with this thread.

I personally wouldn't go near another Dumas kit even if it were free. The only one I ever bought cost me over £250. I had to replace most of the material supplied and I eventually sold it for £50 and a bottle of Jack Daniels. I sometimes wonder how the buyer got on with it…
