Thanks for that, Ray. Scott's reaction was "I'm gobsmacked! I've got to make the real one look like that now!"

This may well be a first.

I concur completely with Ray — your Mirak really looks lovely!

As for your friend's reaction, it is of course a well-known fact that if map and terrain don't match, the fault lies entirely with the terrain, so kudos to him for deciding to, as it were, improve the latter to match the former …

Dave – as others have said, it's a cracking model, but it would be wouldn't it! Your attention to detail is first class.

I take it you've only just finished it and how long did it take you to build?

I started it at the same time as the kit prototype for SLEC i.e. about 8 months ago, but I didn't put a stopwatch on either. SLEC's model was delivered at Warwick, after which I concentrated on Mirak. Like most blokes I have domestics to attend to so I couldn't hazard a guess about the build time more accurately than that. It is all of those lovely little details which takes me the time, though. I could probably knock up an acceptable working model inside a week if I had to.
We did have a customer for an electronics set-up who was still building a WW2 frigate after over 40 years!

Yes, there is a lot of detail in your boats, particularly Mirak, and as you say very time consuming.

Domestic duties, tell me about it! After finishing a bedroom for my youngests homecoming late last year I thought I'd be clear for a bit.

But no, I've had to replace both the kitchen ceiling lights and this weekend I've got to replace the sink tap which has been leaking for a while. That's in addition to the washing up and vacuuming etc. of course.

Have you seen my posting in Full Size Ships?
