Help please! Inherited some boats!

Hi all – I'm hoping you can help!

My father passed away some time ago and left me his boats. Until recently they have been in the loft and something "I'll get around to looking at" at some point.

Unfortunately I'm now having to move house (divorce) and need to clear the loft. I'm just wondering if it's even worth keeping them? If they're worth anything or even if anyone wants to buy them or know where I could sell them if they are worth anything?

I know this is a stab in the dark as I don't think he'd looked at them for years and I have no paperwork – I'll upload some photos that will help no doubt!!

Darren – Make contact with your local model boat club. I am a committee member of Dolphin, based in Orpington, Kent and get about four or five calls per year regarding `loft finds` etc. If the models are worth anything, the money is usually donated to either club funds or a nominated charity e.g. RNLI.

Depending on condition and type I think are worth keeping to restore.

Someone on the forum would be interested.

Thank you very much for your replies David and Harry – when things get back to normal re: social distancing then i'll get in touch with my local one in Corby thinking about it as I've seen them on the pond now and then.

They are petrol racing engines and nicely installed. I am interested too but in Mallorca so a bit impractical.

Local club Corby Ray so in Northants.

As my father was a big motorbiker, I'd be donating any proceeds to the Air Ambulance as we did for his passing.

Hi. Ray, Corby, just up the road from me, when I’m at home.

With those infernal commotion engines not many clubs allow them now but I think there is an IC club at Milton Keynes.

Fortunately my club in Maidstone the Cygnets still allow ic boats on the Mote Park lake 😎

Nice thought Ray, my son is a landscape gardener and he is able to look in every week, and my daughter looks after the mail and the tropical fish, but 5 hours on the road there and back will be enough,but the roads should be quieter than usual.

There could be 'gold' in them-there hills ! (Wooden hills that is…..).

Would that be Corby, Northants ? My son lives nearby,

I imagine if they're racing boats the engines will be 2 strokes ? However, if there's a '4' amongst them…I could be interested.

Hi Dave,

The power boats are happily residing in my workshop in Maidstone now 😄 they are 2 stroke Zenoahs and one will be On route to Tim R in Mallorca soon.
