      Hi.

Been to a village close to us that has a big lake and seen a group using what I'd call "traditional" looking RC boats… it was fab!!!

Something I would love to get into…

I work in the film industry, and if I can combine an interest with my work then it would be a dream!!

I have a project on rivers and lakes coming up and was thinking an RC boat could carry a GoPro Hero 7 that has good stabilisation on the water to give me shots to use in the cut…

I am a newbie… but what kind of boat wpuld you reccomend for this kimd of work??

      Regards,

      John

Hi john and welcome to the forum.

          Best boat for your filming…

Everyone will have their own idea, but my take on this would be a catamaran, larger and heavier the better.

A cat will give good stability due to the increased width over a monohull, and the weight will stop it bobbing around too much. Having a wide platform would enable you to have more of a mast on it to raise the camera off the waterline.

A fisherman’s bait boat would probably do, as a ready-to-run item (although they are horribly overpriced).

Making a cat would be very easy, as you are not worried about the aesthetics, and could be accomplished with nothing more than a box plywood deck and builders foam floats.

            Hi John

One of our members uses a MFA Fantome(about 46&quot with Go Pro and FPV to drive the boat.

Checkout his you tube videos under BGSTEVEG.

Also a few from his drone.

Hi John, you don't say where you are based, but there's probably a model boat club somewhere near you. It's worth approaching then for some help and advice. You might also find some members happy to give your camera a 'trial run' on their models so you can see what to expect from large and small models of different types.

Every club I've been in over the years has had some members who'll jump at the chance to try something different and interesting.

                Hi guys…

Great advice, thank you very much!!

I'll approach the club I saw at the lake… and I'll do some tests!

                Regards,

                Johnyes
