As some of you know I am a bit of a stick in the mud when it comes to model building as I prefer to use tried and tested materials rather than new products.

But I have been introduced to an instant wood adhesive that is just amazing, I know that most of you have been using instant glue for a long time and that I must be one of the last dinosaurs but I am dumfounded at how fast and strong this glue is.

        No more clamping for me.

Does it have any noxious fumes? I try and avoid cyanoacrylate glues these days for that reason.

It says on he bottle that it is cyanoacrylate so almost certainly yes. It is simply a specialised superglue.

I am now using DeLuxe Superphatic wich is pretty fast setting although not instant. It will bond most materials as long as one is porous. No fumes and water cleanup.

This one has between 5 and 7 seconds playtime before setting but it is amazingly strong and lasts a long time, as I have only used an inch out of the bottle after building the SeaFire and now half way through a D B Sport Sopwith Pup.

I am building fully ribbed wings in minutes.

This 2oz bottle cost £8 from the rain forrest and drop for drop it exceeds even the best trade PVAs

                The phrase is Gobsmacked.

The only place I could buy exactly that spec on-line was via Amazon and it was £11.50 plus £3.50 P&P. Have you a link to where you purchased yours?

I don't doubt that it is a wonderful glue Paul but if the slightest whiff results in 3 days of intense hayfever symptoms then I'm afraid it is not for me. I can barely tolerate the odourless type of cyano.

                      Colin,

I would certainly agree with that.

                        Hi all,

I've never tried the thicker CA, but I use a fan in the workshop when using the thin stuff, on and try not to breathe 😀

Our Waitrose store up the road has bouncers on the door now, they won't let you out until you've spent £50 😀😀

                        Regards Ray

I've found that the thicker ones produce much less in the way of fumes. Some of the thin type go off almost with a crack and a puff of smoke – nasty stuff. My own favourite is Slo-Zap.

I honestly haven't noticed any smell but having spent a lifetime around construction chemicals perhaps my sense of smell has been blunted.

Sorry for the typo it should have said 'Sails are going through the roof'
