When I try to load a picture and click on…”insert image”…..it jumps to loading this big file……….www.modelboats.co.uk/cuteEditor-files/themes/office2007/images/ti. ……..and then the rest of the url is off the screen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This must give your expert something to work on, surely?

        Bob…………….getting fed up now!

I’m afraid the expert keeps office hours unlike me Bob! I assume you have rebooted your PC to break any wrong connections that might have been established. I know they have been fiddling abouut with the website but I don’t think that would be the problem.

              Hi Bob,

I suspect that it was breaking the connection with the Model Boats server by closing down your browser which solved it. I have found with the website maintenance that if something goes wrong with an upload the MB server seems to hang onto the connection which stopes you doing anything else in that area of the site. Closing down the browser seems to be the only solution. Maybe it needs an automatic timeout – I will flag it up with the web developer.

Haven`t had a whinge for months!……………..But on my Slo Mo Shun build…….the adverts are covering up some of the wording…on the right hand side.

Put your hairshirt on Paul – it was all your fault!

The You Tube link you  posted was too long and gave the Forum parsing software indigestion! I have sorted it out for you.

The best thing to do when you have a link like that is to copy it to your clipboard and then when you are making your post click on the insert link icon (the little bit of chain). You can then copy the full link into the dialog box which opens and give it a short title which appears in the post itself and references the full link.

                    Hope this is reasonably clear!

It’s a third party editing program Paul. If you post a long link it sees it as one word which won’t fit into the available space between the outside columns. Instead of splitting the link, it widens the window to the right which takes it underneath the adverts. It’s to do with the way the site is constructed.

As far as the “Insert Link” facility is concerned, there are a number of options which are not relevant to just inserting a link into a forum post although some of them are used elsewhere. You have to remember that the Model Boats site is not just a Forum, it’s a general purpose site with a forum included so I’m afraid we have to put up with these little quirks!

As long as the link will fit between the flanking columns, as most do, there isn’t a problem. It’s only the very long ones which cause the difficulty.

No doubt things could be tailored to improve ease of use but that would cost time and money…..

A very minor typo…………….Somebody has mis-spelt…… December…..in the animated advert for the Model Engineer Exhibition

The advert flashes on and off…top right

                              Bob,

It has been reported and I’ve probably blotted my copybook by having a moan about the distracting flashing adverts. The odd one is OK but all of them going at once is like a firework display seen out of the corner of your eye. Very distracting I find.
