My interpretation of a fishtail rudder
A standard rudder with an extra leaf hinged on the outer edge which by the fixed linkage causes the leaf to rotate slightly more……giving a curved effect….and it works too!

My wife liked the rudder so much she did a Victor Kiam and bought the boat !!!,so to-day its off to search for table and teasets for the ladies that will be going into the front section,must explain about buoyancy to her first though!! or it will be the kitchen sink as well

I think your description of an articulated rudder with an external linkage is actually a Becker rudder, I thought a fishtail rudder was a variation of the wedge rudders used by the fast electric boys.

Fishtail Rudder sketch on my Gallery, This was described to me by a Canadian Tug Captain that I met at a Model Boat Regatta, he also makes models.

I think Telstar was the tune played by The Tornadoes about 1962 to celibrate the launch of the first communications satallite.  I came from a nickname, the factory I worked at had four Tom’s in maintainance and paging the right one for a breakdown was fun.  So I became "Tom , electrician" which abreviated to "Tel"  with "Tom" the fitter  , "Tommy" the chippy and "Thomas"  also a fitter. After answering to Tel for a long time when looking for a log on name Telstar seemed right
