Fishing bait boats

With fishing bait boats becoming more popular and their close proximity to our model boat scene………….how can we protect ourselves from rogue interference?

Perhaps we should use the new American method of 2 tin cans and a piece of string and when the system fails we could always dip the string into the water and catch fish!!!

I had it back to front!  I thought the idea was that all RC boats had to have maggots on board as crew?   I knew there was more to it!  Glad you’re back mate!

I understand what you mean the problem being that in some cases the crew would be more inteligent than the owner!

The threat of rogue interference from fishermen can have serious consequences on some models and you lot simply chat about nowt!

To be fair to Bob he does have a valid point,

Whilst we regulate frequency use on a lake to prevent overlapping any nearby fisherman using a bait boat might be completely and innocently unaware of frequency problems.

I think that common sence would prevail especially at club level where a quick chat with the fisherman would establish what frequency he was using,

I find that when I sail on the canal that the same quick chat will avoid problems and establish a friendship with another waterway user.

After all fishermen might object to our presence just as much as we theirs.

Sorry Bob for hijacking your thread to chat we do get carried away sometimes but is it not the same at the lakeside……we do chat like fishwives.

Again, on a serious point, when you guys go out with a boat, is it quite common for you to be alone or will there be other boats?  In other words, if there is somebody with another boat, don’t you have to talk to each other to ensure there’s no interference?  In which case, if there is an angler with a bait boat, isn’t it just as easy to ask him which frequency he’s using?

We use permenent frequency boards on our waters to avoid frequency conflixtion.

I think bait boats use 27meg……………..our club use 40 meg mainly

I know vaguely about frequency boards, but if somebody just pops down to the local lake on a Sunday morning, is he likely to encounter others sailing?  Would there be a frequency board in use then?

We sail 365 days a year…….140 members………private landing stage and in nice weather there is always a few sailing…

Runcorn is very nice but is a half hour drive from my home.

That’s it Vinnie your right,there can be quite a few boats all running at the same time.

If your boat starts acting strange it only takes a walk and chat and cup of tea with your neighbours .Carp are a very wary fish and quiet on the bank is very important we are usually away from crowds and lots of water traffic.

We also have a clubhouse………………with a bar!

Hot pot suppers……….social evenings………quiz night………video nights………visitors gving talks……….model shop presentations………and a nice cafe during nornal hours…..at weekend it`s packed out!
