These days, life is bound, hands and feet with H&E regulations.

So, why do they allow rockets to be fired into the sky, where everybody looks UP to watch the explosion………………and then it all falls down to earth……ANYWHERE!………………How ridiculous is that?

And on a parting shot……………What about the pollution……it must be tremendous?

Good point Bob , My personal opinion is that the sale of fireworks to the general public should be BANNED , there are plenty of well organised displays run by professionals so why are members of the public allowed to buy what amounts to explosives ?

Thats my first rant on here lol
                                     Regards Andy

you mean banned in the same way that you are banned from using Mobile Phones whilst driving, Or people under the age of buying alchole or ciggs , Never see this happening now its been banned do we !.  Not a cat in hells chance..

Do not get me wrong I think that restrictions should be a lot harder to get Fireworks , it is just that  it  will not happen.. If i remember last year the worst REPORTED incident was actually from a well organised display.
And lets face it if criminals get easily get guns and such  I can’t see there being any difficulty in people getting fireworks even if a ban was imposed…  So for the moment  all we can do is collect the Rocket sticks the next day for Building

ee… I remember when I were a lad beer was 2d a pint, a loaf of bread was a farthing and you could have a good night out and still have change from two bob.

The youth of today dont know they are born, when I was young we had to get up half an hour before we went to bed and felt ourselves lucky to have a dripping sandwich for tea

I also can recall rip-raps, aeroplanes, hand held roman candles….any one of which could take your head off…..but those were the good old days……..

Should we ask Colin to start a new section for moaning and complaining??

Two Bob Abell’s? Perish the thought – one is quite enough!

I’m not in favour of banning all and sundry – there’s far too much of that going on already. However I think that going to organised firework displays is far, far better and more enjoyable than attempting to hold your own rather expensive and pathetic effort. just commonsense really.

The sale of fireworks to the general public is banned in most Australian states, unless a permit is applied for. Such permits are not easy to get, but some people still manage to get hold of fireworks illegally, and let them off periodically, scaring the wits out of every dog for miles around . Not to mention unsuspecting nearby residents

Gentlemen as a security officer for a well known supermarket i have the pleasure to work in a … wel lets say an ethnicly diverse area of cardiff  and witness to somali youths throwing fireworks at each other .Their faces coverd with hoodies and bandanas over their mouth and nose so you could not tell who they are . These fireworks were obviously brought for them by an adult who should know but not care .
Yes i agree that there should be proper displays and on the other hand  if they are used responsibly then keep selling to joe public for use in thier own garden/back yard . If we let the PC Brigade in what next  ??? lifejackets and safety boats and lifeguards for all club events and a fire officer stood by for nitro boats .

The point I was making was that rockets go up…people look up….rockets come down!

It`s like playing Russian Roulette with your eyes!

I`m surprised that the safety watchdog people don`t recommend goggles….Daft as it may seem?

Fair point , I got something in my eye from an organised event ,thankfully a quick blink sorted it , a stick could be a bit more painful.

Our local display was pretty good last night. Of course, you can get similar effects by putting 20 amps through a 10 amp speed controller…..
