As a subscriber I have just received my copy of the latest Model Boats Magazine and the free plan is incomplete. It's only printed on one side! Is this just my copy or is it a problem with all the copies??

Mine is the same. Looks like an error as it says two sheets on the header. I have reported it to Paul Freshney.

I have thoroughly enjoyed reading my copy today and whilst the second sheet of the free drawing is missing its the only mishap that I have ever encountered in all my years of reading the magazine.

Is it really worth worrying about?

Well, it might be if you were thinking of building the model Paul but no doubt MTM will make it available on request if that is the case.

I do appreciate that someone might want to build the model and I am sure that MTM would sort out the problem and I don't wish to appear blasé about the matter but in the great scheme of things a few missing drawings isn't all that important.

It is a problem, and it is important, if you want to build the boat and the hull lines sheet is missing.

Well it's not important in the universal scheme of things Paul but I suspect a few questions will be asked on Monday. When publishing a national/international magazine we do try to get things right as the customers would expect. Obviously mistakes may happen from time to time but the reason needs to be determined to stop them happening in future.

I know this is only my second ever post but I have to agree with Mike and Colin.

I am thinking about getting back into boat modelling after too many years, hence my new subscription to MB. Aquarius looks like an interesting project to start again with – but not without the lines plan!

I'm sure it will be sorted, hence my decision to check the forum to see what is happening.

By the way, thanks to you all for providing a lot of good background info in earlier posts – very useful.

Not sure in what way the mags are sent (geographically, alphabetically )out but could be helpful in the investigation.

And yes I have a blank 2nd page unless it is actually there but it is a test to see who can make the invisible ink show its self..

I am told it is a printer's error and that further information will be posted here on Monday. It is likely that readers will be able to apply for the full plan to be sent to them if they wish but this is still to be confirmed.

Colin and I have spoken earlier tonight.

It is clearly a printer error and not MyTimeMedia as the two sheets are shown within the Printer's proofing system and the print order (generated by H/O) clearly also requires the two sheets to be printed back to back.

So someone at the printers has 'mucked-up' or there has been a mechanical error, but more likely 'human'.

After approving the proofs, I don't see the magazine until it arrives on my doormat.

I have alerted H/O who no doubt will resolve on Monday and as Colin has said, their solution will be on here asap.

So, sorry for for the inconvenience, but no doubt the Printer will get the bill for sorting it all out.

It Happens.. Had a Breakaway once , All chocolate with no biscuit in it, Wondered if I should send report it to the hotline after eating 2/3rds of it…..

Would imagine it was hard to see once the production line was going as I assume it is all assembled by robots, when you look at the plan when stapled in you do not readily see the blank parts of the plan..

To all UK subscribers

Every care is taken to provide a full and comprehensive edition every month for your enjoyment and on the rare occasion where you may experience problems, we will always try and find a solution as quickly as possible. In this instance, the missing sheet of the RAFA Aquarius Free plan is entirely the fault of the printers and was beyond our control. Fortunately, as regard export and newstrade copies, these issues have been withdrawn from the distribution system today to have the complete two sheet plan added to them and they will then be re-dispatched as usual.

In the case only of UK subscriber copies which were posted-out at the end of last week, any UK subscriber who wants the missing plan sheet should contact Audrey at: [email protected] or telephone 0844 543 8200, clearly mentioning MB Dec 2013 and the missing plan sheet, giving their name and full address and it will be posted out free of charge asap.

I understand and regret the inconvenience this may cause, but the error was not of our doing. The solution is the most practical in the circumstances for UK subscribers, with the printers bearing all the associated costs. A note about this will also appear in the January issue which follows quite shortly in early December.

Perhaps it should have said 'UK based subscribers' as distinct from North America.

Assuming your subscription is via [email protected], then just email them as per that posting please with your details, if you want the second sheet.

Thursday 21st.

It would now seem that all subscription copies processed by CDS, and that includes those that go to Europe and the Far East (Australia & New Zealand) were dispatched last Friday 15th. We were given to understand that only the UK ones were dispatched from them on that day.

Hence, any subscriber anywhere, wanting the missing sheet, apart those in North America who deal with Express Magazines, should contact Audrey at [email protected], or tel: 0844 543 8200, clearly mentioning MB Dec 2013 and the missing plan sheet, giving their name and full address, and it will be posted out free of charge asap.

​I suppose on the plus side, that this does go to show that the subscription copies really are normally dispatched a week before the 'on sale' date.

All the newstrade and North America copies should have the two sheets.
