Dave,
Interesting to read that they plan to use the ship on the Manchester Ship Canal after restoration. I realise that I am thinking into the future, but it will be interesting to know if she will visit us at the Manchester end of the 'Big Ditch'.
When reading further on the canal cruises which we discussed earlier, the first passenger trips along the canal were carried out between March 1892 and May 1894 by the Scottish Paddle Steamer, Ivanhoe. As Ivanhoe was 'dry' ship (no alcohol), could this be part of the reason for this early venture being a failure? The paddler returned to the Clyde.
