In 2-3 weeks time I’m planning to visit the Conserver, the Buoy Maintenance and Survey Vessel based on the Forth, and subject of the Model Slipway kit.  I have an invitation to go aboard and will try to get some interior shots if I can.  Does anyone have any specific photographic requests?  Please let me know by 20 Oct 2010.

Mike, yes I got lots.  I’ll put some up…  These, and some older ones I found online, show the paint scheme to have been a little different than the Model Slipway graphics.  I guess it all depends whether you want a smart looking model like the pic on the box, or something more representative of the real boat.  There are plenty of weathering opportunities!  I think I’ll be going for original paint scheme and a modest amount of weathering, with the old radar antenna which I plan to rotate at 1 rev per sec.

Done.  There are lots there now.  I hope they are of some help.  If you need any other info about the boat I’ll try to answer them as best as I can.

Many thanks these are a great help to me as I am currently onto the wheelhouse stage now. Must admit the lower wheelhouse has caused me a great deal of teeth gnashing on one particular bit! The front lower skin that wraps round was hell to do. It may have been that my model has been in storage for about 4 years and the plastic has gone a little brittle but bend it would not. Warm water, Hair Dryer, you name it I tried it until finally it snapped ratehr than bend. I cheated and bodged by using .5mm plastic for the skin which was very easy to bend then I put a second skin on i.e. .5mm laminated and that worked a treat. Hopefully the small bends in the roof wont be such a pig!

Ah, mine’s about that old. I’ll see how I get on with the curved pieces. Can you take some pics of your progress to post? Would be very interested to see how you’re getting on.

Yes I have taken a couple of pics of the build to date so I will post some them later today, It required a bit of filler but it has come out okay really. I will need the strips on the lower edge to make it fully flush to deck but otherwise its worked fine. I have dry fitted the windows and they all seem to line up so touch wood they will go togehter fiine. All of the hull and deck is fitted and the RC gear – I filled in the gaps between deck and hulll yesterday and will be rubbing it down later. The hull build was all plain sailing apart from the step recess to waterline which didnt quite end up flush so again some filler was needed but not too much.
