My first venture into a Kindle publication went online yesterday on Amazon. Here is a link to the listing:
      **LINK**

It covers my first 17 years at sea in ships ranging from North Sea colliers to Union-Castle liners. The listing has a sample chapter and full details. It is illustrated with about 30 black & white photographs.

I really prefer "real" books, but they seem to be on the decline these days, so Kindle is just an experiment!

Just downloaded it Bob. Not sure if I will read it shortly or keep it for our holiday in a couple of months. If it's as good as your earlier book it will be an excellent read.

            Hi Colin,

Thanks. I don't have a Kindle myself, so not sure what it will look like, but it has about 30 photographs at the end that I believe is unusual for Kindle books!

            Best wishes

            Bob

I saved the book for my recent holiday and it is a really good read with lots of interesting detail as to what life was like in the British Merchant Marine during the 60s & 70s.

                Thoroughly recommended!

                  Colin,

Thanks and glad you enjoyed it. I have been amazed at its popularity! Considering it was rejected by most of the mainstream nautical publishers years ago, it is now doing extremely well.

I haven't even got a Kindle (prefer real booksface 1), but several friends showed it to me on their Kindles and I was suprised to see how clear the tiny photographs were, but I would have preferred them to have been in the text rather than at the end.

Also a bit disappointed that the menu aboard the Transvaal Castle was not centered correctly, but slid to the left.

I may try and learn the art of making Kindle books myself, complete with images and centered text where required. Don't know where to go for info at the moment – any ideas anyone?

I don't know just how Kindle books are formatted but yours is one of the better ones Bob, some of them are dreadful!
