If you have a campervan……..Make sure, you know what's covered in the policy!

We bought our first camper in 2002

With our house and car already covered, it seemed quite natural to use the same company?

So we used the same, well know…..As seen on TV…..Company

This year, 13 years later, we had only driven about 1000 miles, so I decided to ask for a reduction

They dropped the price by about £90.00……Nice?

Having gone through all the details, the man said…….

"We don't cover the contents of course"……Thinking he was referring to the TV and bedding etc……I agreed

Shortly afterwards, I started thinking about what he said and phoned him back to check

To my horror, the van was only insured as an empty shell!

Imagine having a crash, and discovering that all the fixtures and fittings were not included!

Having found another insurance company that covered everything……..With a saving of £150.00…….I phoned back and cancelled the policy

This morning, they are asking as to why I've cancelled the policy!

Be warned out there, fellow campers

              From Wiki….

"Glamping is a portmanteau of glamour and camping and describes a style of camping with amenities and, in some cases, resort-style services not usually associated with "traditional" camping. Glamping has become particularly popular with 21st century tourists seeking the luxuries of hotel accommodation alongside the escapism and adventure recreation of camping."

Thats you in your luxury campervan Bob. No wonder you are miffed that the contents are not covered, all those luxuries you stash away in there!!

                Thank you, Ashley

In case you missed the point of my post

The so called insurance cover I had had for the previous 13 years, did not include the Fixtures and Fittings, ie……The fridge, cooker, oven, sink unit, toilet amenities, beds etc

                ie……Nothing but an empty shell!

We finally sorted out the insurance cover Thursday morning and set off for Anglesey…….I quite was expecting to be pulled up by the boys in blue with their NPR camera's for having no insurance!

                Bob
